Policies & FAQs


 All orders are shipped via USPS First Class or Priority, depending on your choice at checkout and the weight of your order (all orders over 1lb are shipped Priority). Within the US, this includes tracking through USPS; for international orders, tracking may be available in some countries, but generally drops off after your order leaves the States.

Ready-to-ship items will ship within 2-5 days after payment is received; made-to-order items generally have a 1-3 week turnaround time, and there will be further details in the listings. If you need an item by a certain date to meet a deadline, please contact Lisa to discuss whether we can meet your timing needs - expediting your order will incur a small fee. 

Shipping does not include insurance - please contact us if you would like to add this to your order. Flying Finn Yarns. is not responsible or liable for damage or loss through the Postal Service.

Returns & Exchanges

Due to the nature of our products, we do not accept returns or exchanges. Contact us* to discuss the matter. If something is wrong with your order, please contact us (and include photos as appropriate) to discuss the best way to proceed.

Caring for your Fibers

The best way to care for your creations is to soak your yarns and knitted goods in cool/warm (not hot) water with a gentle wool wash, such as Eucalan (which does not require rinsing and is safe for the most delicate fibers). Occasionally, you may see some slight coloring to the bath water from very vibrant colors - this is harmless, and should not effect the color of your final product. We rinse our fibers until our own water runs clear, but everyone's water is different and alternate chemicals or pH differences can dislodge some un-bonded dye. If you do notice significant bleeding or color change after washing, please contact us with pictures and a description of how you washed your items, and we will discuss whether remediation is necessary. 

Color Representation

All products are photographed in natural light and gently edited to ensure proper contrast, exposure, and trueness of color on the screens available to us. We are fortunate to have the talents of Seasonal Sessions Photography behind the camera.  Here at Flying Finn Yarns, we do our best to ensure that the colors are represented accurately. Please keep in mind that all  monitors are different, so there is no way to ensure that you will see exactly what we see. 

Wholesale & Consignment

Flying Finn Yarn does not currently have wholesale orders, however we are always open to a discussion about your ideas. We are a small business that prides itself in offering products designed with a specific audience in mind. If you would like to bring Flying Finn Yarn into your store please contact us. Dyed to Order

We love to create the perfect yarn for you! If you see a particular color, but there is not enough yardage for your product or you would like a different base than is listed, drop us a line and we'd be happy to discuss your needs.  We are not currently offering custom color dye orders, however, we are always open to discussions about what you may need for your special project.
